Completely Offline.

Face recognition runs entirely on-device using macOS’s Core ML / Vision native machine learning frameworks. Your face data and your Mac password never touch the internet.

Face Embeddings.

Glance converts your face into a mathematical fingerprint or embeddings and throws the image away. Your face data is encrypted with AES-GCM, an industry-standard encryption.

Encrypted in
Keychain.

The key that unlocks your encrypted data is stored in the macOS Keychain behind a Touch ID / device-password gate. Safe and secure.

Liveness Checks.

Glance watches for small, natural head movements over about a second. Defends against static photos of you that could otherwise be used to fool the face recognition system. However, this approach may be less effective against videos.

Auto-Lock Sessions.

After a period of inactivity you choose, the app re-locks itself automatically so a session left open on an unattended Mac doesn't stay open forever. This will require you to reauthenticate with TouchID or Password to continue using Glance.

Full Control of Your Data.

You can edit or delete your data completely at any time. Deleting your enrollment or your stored password removes the encrypted files immediately.
